The life science industry has a sexism problem – and no one knows the scale

Zero cases of sexism have been registered at central players in the Danish life science industry like Novo Nordisk and trade union Pharmadanmark. But this statistic does not include unreported figures, says organizations and industry people, who expect the industry to be more open about the taboo going forward.

Novo Nordisk has plenty of challenges to consider in the nearest future, but when it comes to what is probably the most discussed issue for Danish companies these days – sexism and sexual harassment in the workplace – Denmark's largest company and its 16,500 Danish employees don't have a single case to work with.

"We don't share specific numbers, but we can state that we generally don't experience cases on sexism or sexual harassment in Denmark, and that in recent years cases like these haven't been raised in Denmark through our ombudsman function and hotline," Senior Vice President P&O Business Partnering at Novo Nordisk Mille Borchorst tells MedWatch.
